IS BFA A GOOD FIT FOR ME?
WHO WE ARE
Benjamin Franklin Academy is a public charter school for families who want a traditional, values-based education.
We believe students learn best in an environment that is structured, respectful, orderly, and grounded in enduring principles. Our school culture reflects a conservative worldview and a commitment to personal responsibility, citizenship, and moral character.
At BFA, you can expect:
Clear standards and consistent discipline
We follow a defined discipline policy and believe boundaries create safety, focus, and respect.Traditional values in school culture
We promote modesty through a dress code, begin each day by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and emphasize respect for country, family, and community.Biological sex-based policies
Students are recognized as male or female, with sex-separated facilities and programs aligned accordingly.Respectful, neutral learning environments
School decor and displays follow clear guidelines—focusing on academics, patriotism, and school culture, not ideological messaging.A history-centered curriculum
Our instruction emphasizes Western civilization, American history, and foundational ideas that shaped our nation. Christianity and creation are included within historical context.Hands-on, practical learning
Through programs like Toolbox, Open Roads, Campfire, and The Foundry, students learn responsibility, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and real-world skills.
BFA works best for families who share these values and want them reinforced—not debated—during the school day.
WHO WE ARE NOT
Benjamin Franklin Academy is intentionally not designed to be everything to everyone.
To be transparent and fair to families, it’s important to know that BFA may not be the right fit if you are looking for:
Extensive special education services
We do not provide in-house special education programs or therapeutic supports for students with significant learning disabilities.Mental health or emotional intervention services
We do not employ school counselors, social workers, or clinicians for students with substantial emotional or behavioral needs.A college-prep or academically elite model
While we value learning and effort, our program is not structured around AP courses, elite academics, or post-graduate credentialing.Ideological activism in the classroom
We do not promote gender ideology, political movements, or social activism as part of instruction or school culture.A highly flexible or permissive environment
Families seeking loosely enforced rules, individualized behavior plans, or constant accommodation may find BFA frustrating.
OUR COMMITMENT
We are committed to clarity, honesty, and consistency—for students, families, and staff.
If our mission and values align with your family, we would love to welcome you.
If not, we respect that school choice means finding the right place—not just a place.
